The Real Reason for Christmas

 Let Us Not Forget!

Merry Christmas Golden Divas!

Jesus is the reason for the season I can’t stress that truth enough! Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who people like me and others that are Christians believe He is the Son of God. The name ‘Christmas’ comes from the Mass of Christ (or Jesus) and the day set aside to honor Him is December 25th. That sounds easy enough. Right?! Every year I get excited about celebrating Christmas. Jesus birth and how magically people at least some become friendlier and nicer or maybe they are anticipating more gifts; whatever the reason that beloved day that warms so many hearts will be here in 6 days. Christmas is the day that all of your family will be gathering together to exchange gifts, eating a very tasty dinner and fellowshipping together? However, did you know Christmas is also the most forgotten day as to why we celebrate this festive season? We made it about us and not Him! In all of the hustle and bustle to get the perfect tree, decorations, gifts, and food many do not honor the real reason for the season.

THE DAY THAT CHRIST WAS BORN!

Now, divas, I can overlook the people who are not Christians who say this holiday has become so man-made and commercialized and you know what I can agree with them. What I can’t agree with is the people that know better, the ones that know the real reason for the season, and deliberately leave the birthday boy out of the equation. The people that are so concerned about the hoopla (I know that’s not you) instead of Jesus the one that gives us hope, joy, and peace, for everlasting life?

THIS CONCERNS ME AND IT SHOULD CONCERN YOU TOO!

We know the reason for the season, but most people won’t even mention his name throughout the day. Christmas is the biggest birthday party we will celebrate each year and throughout the day there’s no mention of His glorious name. After-all ladies, it’s why we say “Merry Christmas!”

Specifically, it’s a birthday party for Jesus, and birthdays are meant to be celebrated. Think about how happy we get when we make it to another year. Some of us will celebrate quietly in a thankful manner, and others will celebrate boldly with parties, trips, and gifts. Either way, we are celebrating another year of LIFE!  Ironically, at this particular birthday party that is Christmas the person whose birthday we’re supposed to be celebrating is completely ignored. Again He’s never even mentioned. Although Jesus is the reason for the season, he’s often overlooked or merely mentioned along with Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus, the Grinch, elves, and a long list of celebrated fictional characters.

NOW YOU KNOW THAT IS BAD! JUST BAD!

Golden Divas let us not forget on December 25th the day that is set aside to celebrate Christ birth, sometime in that beautiful fun-filled day with our families and friends let’s remember the reason for the season. A season that is filled with peace, joy, and hope, for all, now don’t get me wrong it is nice to exchange Christmas gifts; however, the biggest gift that was given to us is God’s son and He should be honored to the highest on His birthday. Not an afterthought after some fictional characters.

Golden Divas, let’s show an overabundance of love and kindness to one another and honor Jesus Christ for His birthday!!!

God Bless,

Brenda
