September

Goodbye, August, Hello September

Welcome to September, Golden Divas!

Today is the first day of a new month, a new day, a new chapter, a new page, new wishes, new dreams.

This is the month of a beautiful season change. May you find strength, encouragement, and a new zest for life. The first month of the Autumn or Fall season is filled with changes from the cooler weather and the beautiful leaves.

Ladies, I must admit I love the bold, bright colors of the leaves on the trees, the warm apple cider, and hot cocoa and walks at The Morton Arboretum. You need to check this park out in the Fall; the scenery is so exquisite. So, get ready for a road trip of fun in Lisle, Illinois.

Most of all, the reason why I love September is my love; my husband, Ricardo’s birthday, it is the first day of Fall on September 22nd. Just like Fall, our marriage has endured many changes over 27 years. Changes that have strengthened us and made us stronger.

“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens…” Ecclesiastes 3:1

There are so many reasons to love this month, starting with God has allowed us to be here still to see it!

Golden Divas, whether you’re looking to change it up a little or a lot, we all know change can be daunting. But, change is inevitable, and it usually is a positive thing. However, if we stay true to ourselves, we know we are creatures of habit, so just like us getting used to the weather change and the beautiful leaves falling, it can take a little prodding to get us motivated to make a big change in our lives.

I know one thing we all wish would change with the blink of an eye, and that’s COVID-19 and the new Delta variant that comes with it. The thought of taking a booster shot has frightened many people, especially the ones who haven’t taken the first vaccination. The idea that we must mask up again everywhere can be frustrating when we thought we were out of the woods. Continue to hold on to God’s unchanging hands and we will make it through this crisis once and for all.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Despite all of the negativity surrounding the world, let’s try to make it a September to Remember with some positivity. You can start with your thoughts and changing your mindset.

Fall is extraordinary; here are a few of my favorite things!

Cozy sweaters and cozy nights in the crisp air. Changing leaves, warm drinks, apple pie, smores, and Taffy apples. Harvest time. Thanksgiving dinner with my family, bonfires, Chili, nature walks, the new season of my favorite shows. Playing in the leaves, believing in the magic of simple moments. And yes, football (for some)!

Gratitude allows us to see what is there instead of what is not there. But, of course, it’s always in season to be grateful!

September may just be a month to remember.

May the month ahead bring you endless joy, and may you find your place of peace, serenity in your soul, an overflow of happiness in your heart.

Love you, Golden Divas, and there’s nothing you can do about it!
