So, guys put down your wrenches there’s a new ‘Grease Diva’ in town ready to pick it up, and change the game!

Today I will like to introduce you to Patrice Banks. If you’ve never heard of this engineer, mechanic, entrepreneur, and storyteller, this is a must-read post just for you.

We all know one of the gender biases is men being mechanics, well the automotive industry has been

shifted on its Clutch with this ‘Beauty Delight!’

Founder and CEO Patrice Banks wants to change the relationships women have with the automotive industry. She also wants women to feel relaxed, respected, and informed when they leave her shop.

“THE LOWEST OF LOWS THAT YOU’VE HAD, ONLY EQUATE TO THE HIGHEST YOU CAN GO.” – PATRICE BANKS.

ABOUT PATRICE

Patrice Banks is opening up the male-dominated automotive industry, bringing a fresh perspective to the status quo. By telling her story, she continues to make history through engaging talks, interactive workshops, authoring an informative car care guide, and the successful running of Girls Auto Clinic.

Passionate about equality and empowerment of women, business leadership, innovation, technology, and STEM education, Patrice promotes positive messages for female inclusion and authorization in the auto industry through her #sheCANic movement. Whether speaking to a room full of middle school girls, or national conferences with executives and CEOs, Patrice inspires individuals, groups, and businesses alike, to push boundaries, redefine success, and tap into their full potential.

Patrice has wowed crowds for more than ten years, beginning her public speaking career at Dupont, presenting engineering results to top-level executives. As a prominent orator, Patrice provides the perfect blend of energy, credibility, humor, grit, and a refreshing realness to motivate audiences to action, beckoning them to break down barriers, find their purpose.

The CEO of Girls Auto Clinic shows us that the key to success is resilience.

Patrice Banks is a self-described auto airhead who hated all of her automotive buying and repair experiences. Frustrated with a lack of resources educating women on car care and her inability to find a female mechanic in the Philadelphia area, Patrice enrolled in automotive technology school to learn how to work on cars. Her mission with Girl Auto Clinic was to create a place she wanted to bring her car for repair and maintenance. She has since made it her mission to educate and empower women through their vehicles!

Girls Auto Clinic is doing workplace equality right, and they’re doing it in style.

Patrice is an engineer turned mechanic who in 2013 founded the Girls Auto Clinic, a Pennsylvania-based repair center staffed by and focusing on women. The Girls Auto Clinic isn’t just in the business of changing oil – they’re also changing the relationship between women and the automotive industry and offering a range of salon services to sweeten the deal.

The shop is a stress-free space for women to have their cars serviced and learn more about vehicles in a respectful and supportive manner. GAC was born out of the frustration and mistreatment female customers often face when dealing with male mechanics and combats it by empowering women to become #sheCANics; a hashtag Banks even uses to describe herself.

GAC offers automotive buying and repair resources, products, and services based on trust, education, inclusion, and empowerment.

“Our customers come to feel confident about themselves, their cars, and their buying choices.”

Though GAC has been open near Philadelphia since 2013, the shop’s latest addition, Clutch Beauty Bar, opened in 2017 and brought a whole new wave of fame. Clutch offers customers manicures, pedicures, and blowouts while waiting for the mechanics to finish with their car. Basically, not only will you leave Girls Auto Club with a freshly serviced ride, but you’ll also have traffic-stopping hair and nails. Workforce equality is done in style.

Note from Clutch Beauty Bar

“A Black-Owned Nail Salon Plus in Upper-Darby, PA, Clutch Beauty Bar (CBB) is an extension and icing on the Girls Auto Repair Center cake. Clutch exists to be a part of the Girls Auto Clinic and #sheCANic movement, Clutch exists to create a clubhouse for womxn. CBB offers much more than Manicures and Pedicures; we are no ordinary beauty bar near Havertown in Delaware County. You can utilize our beauty bar for time to relax while your car gets serviced at Girls Auto Clinic. You can relax in one of our beautiful lounges, read a book or watch TV. Enjoy a glass of wine or a beverage and snack on us while you are pampered from head to toe! Please check out our COVID safety procedures to ensure everyone is staying safe.”

Patrice also published Girls Auto Clinic Glove Box Guide in 2017, which covers the basics of auto repairs, maintenance, and emergencies.

#SHECANIC MOVEMENT

The #sheCANic movement educates and empowers women through their cars. Patrice was tired of feeling helpless with repairs and car maintenance. She realized she was not the only woman who felt this way. Millions of women out there are thirsty for empowerment and education. Her goal is to reach every woman driver and create a community of car-savvy women who are intelligent consumers and make confident decisions regarding their cars and auto purchases! Welcome, #sheCANics!

Patrice educates in a shame-free, relatable, and engaging way to women looking to learn practical information about their vehicles. Patrice:
-hosts monthly free car care workshops
-penned a car care book
-blogs car care tips, and
-created the #sheCANic Facebook page, a private group that connects female drivers with female mechanics to answer their car questions.

Golden Divas, as women, we ROCK indefinitely!!!
