Happy Wednesday, Golden Divas!
Ladies, we all know how much ‘Black Girls Rock,’ and you know how much I love to brag on my Golden Divas; however, when there’s a ‘Junior Diva’ amongst us taking the world by storm, I have to switch things up a little bit and promote her field of business and share her great works with the world.
So, in this ‘SPECIAL EDITION’ of my Club Fifty Golden Diva Interview, I am featuring a young, gifted, and black ‘Junior Diva‘ who is 17 years old. She is a mover and shaker in the world of jewelry. In honor of Black History Month, which is American History, I wanted to showcase a B.O.B. (Black-Owned Business) and celebrate its success!
There’s nothing like a young, gifted, black girl, hustling and doing what she loves, to turn her dream into a lucrative business. This entrepreneur is exploding in the jewelry bangle business, she is a “Motivator,” “Visionary,” and a “Trailblazer” who is connecting girls and women together with her banging, bangles, ‘BanglesbyHer!’
I am so proud of this cute young lady and all of the work she is doing, not only in her business but also in her school work, sports, and volunteer work. She is humble and very gracious and she is on the rise to garner great success, plus she is someone you should know.
Golden Divas meet the very talented and fashion-forward Kimora Li Fleet. We can learn a lot from this ‘Junior Diva!’
MEET KIMORA LI FLEET
Hello, my name is Kimora Li Fleet.
I’m 17 years old and a junior in high school. I run track and have placed 1st and 2nd in Illinois for the 100m dash. I’m an honor roll student, member of the National Society of Highschool Scholars (NSHSS).
I’m a very free-spirited person and love an array of different music. I am grateful to be richly blessed; I am an amazing aunt, a beloved daughter, a precious sister, a loyal friend, a hard-working entrepreneur, a dedicated student, a gifted athlete, and a kind-hearted young lady.
I serve throughout the community by volunteering my time with service, feeding the hungry, giving clothes to women and children. I also babysit.
I am the sole proprietor of a Black-Owned Business, BANGLESBYHER.
May 15, 2020, I came up with the idea to start making bangles. There were so many girls making bangles, but I found that no one made them how I wanted to wear them; with my love for fashion, it motivated me to start my own business. I shared my vision plan with my parents and my sister, and they immediately supported me in my goal. In less than 24 hours, I ordered all of the materials that I needed for my business and prepared everything.
On June 6, 2020, at midnight, I launched my business. I started with 45 bangles, and by the very next morning, I only had ten bangles still available. To my surprise, I surpassed my goal. I promote my brand by consistently adding new items and promotions.
With my friends and family’s support in getting my name out there through social media, my business continues to soar. I now have over 4,000 followers and counting. I’ve shipped to 31 states and have fulfilled over 400 orders.
I plan to continue to run my business throughout college and ship my products to all 50 states. My ultimate goal is to earn my Ph.D. and become a doctor in the area of plastic surgery. I love HBCU’s and want to attend Howard or Florida A&M. I also love Georgia State.
I love being an entrepreneur; it is such a joy sharing the gift with others of being the owner of BANGLESBYHER!

IN CONVERSATION WITH KIMORA LI FLEET
C50: How did your business idea come about, and how did you come up with the name BanglesbyHER for your business?
KLF: My business idea came about when I noticed many girls my age making bangles, but nobody was making them how I would like to wear them, so I came up with the idea to start my own bangle business. My sister came up with the name BanglesbyHER, and I loved it as soon as she said it.
C50: How many hours in a day do you invest in your business?
KLF: In a day, I could invest up to 10 hours into my business. Being creative and coming up with different combinations for the bangles can be challenging, but the final look is always pretty.
C50: How do you market your business?
KLF: I market my business through Instagram and my website, www.BanglesbyHER.com. I do promotions with big Instagram influencers who have thousands of followers. An Instagram influencer with 1.5 million followers contacted me and asked to be one of my brand ambassadors by promoting and wearing my bangles.
C50: Where do you see BanglesbyHER in five years?
KLF: In 5 years, I see BanglesbyHER still thriving and succeeding very well. I’ll be in college, and I plan to continue running my business and having BanglesbyHER all over the country.
C50: How has being a young entrepreneur affected your family and social life?
KLF: Being a young entrepreneur has shown me who supports me. I am humbled because many people that I don’t even know give me encouraging words all the time, saying that they love my business, how I promote it, and that they enjoy shopping with me.
From the day I shared my vision to become an entrepreneur, I am grateful that my close family and friends have continued to support me 100%.
